The clamshell dredge GE #6 will be working at the Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage outfall located on the south side of the Fraser River just down stream of the new Golden Ears bridge. Hours of operations are 0700 to 1800PDT May 15 to May 16, 2012. Mariners are requested to use caution when transiting the area. The GE #6 will monitor VHF channel 06.
The derrick McKenzie will be dredging at Seaspan Ferries, Tilbury, from 0900 until 1900PDT May 14 to May 17 2012. The derrick and a Catherwood towing tug will monitor VHF channel 74.

A 1.5 metre diameter wave rider buoy has been established in close proximity to the La Perouse ODAS buoy in position 48 50.615N 126 00.611W. it is intended that the buoy will be in place for approximately 1 yr. light charactistics: group flash 5 yellow every 20 seconds.
The derrick GE#5 will be working on the south-west corner of the protection pier at the Pitt River Railway Bridge, Monday to Friday, from 0700 until 1730 PDT, until approximately May 16 2012. The west swing span channel will be closed to marine traffic during this time. The derrick will monitor VHF Channel 74.

The private flashing green light at the end of the Tsehum Harbour Breakwater is reported extinguished.
A yellow wave buoy, 1 metre in diameter, with yellow flashing light (5 flashes every 20 seconds) has been deployed northeast of Buckley Bay in position: 49 32.005N 124 50.474W (WGS84) Mariners are requested to maintain a 100 metre clearance of this buoy. The buoy will remain on station until May 07 2012.
There are four temporary steel protection pilings installed along the southwest corner of the Pitt River Railway Bridge protection pier until further notice. (The pilings range from 2 feet to 4 feet, outside the protection pier alignment in the west channel.)
The 1403 Derrick will be dredging along the southern shoreline of Ganges Harbour, near the mouth of Ackerman Creek in approx. position: 48 50.73N 123 29.38W (NAD 83) commencing Jan 04, 2012, working Monday through Saturday from 0700 until 1730 PST until further notice. All working vessels will monitor VHF Channel 73. Mariners are requested to provide a minimum wash when transiting the area.

Canadian Coast Guard Pacific Region MCTS centres will now process VHF-DSC (Digital Selective Calling) test calls provided that the marine radio meets the International Telecommunications Union standard Recommendation M.493-11. The Canadian Coast Guard s VHF-DSC equipment is configured to automatically acknowledge VHF-DSC test calls within seconds of receipt provided that the MCTS centres DSC equipment is not processing a higher priority call. There is an uncharted sub-surface scientific mooring in position; 52 37.971N 128 13.761W (NAD Unknown) approx. 2nm NNE of Counsel Pt. The mooring is visible at low water and shows 2 spherical orange floats approx. 12-18 inches in diameter with a small yellow float attached. Mariners are requested to proceed with caution when transiting the area.

Environment Canada maintains the Ocean Data Acquisition System (ODAS) weather buoys deployed on the west coast of British Columbia. Some of these buoys sustained damage due to mariners tying lines or hanging traps and other equipment from them. These actions can cause damage to the equipment sensors and interrupt the transmission of weather data. This information is essential for marine forecasts and hourly weather reports.

Construction of the new Port Mann Bridge, west of the existing Port Mann Bridge, will be underway until approx Jul 01 2013. Mariners transiting the area will encounter various vessels and barges, working and temporarily anchored, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Construction will result in periodic closures of navigational channels. Contact attending vessels before transiting the area. Mariners are requested to proceed with caution and provide a minimum wash 200 metres upstream and downstream of the construction area. The attending vessels will monitor VHF Channels 16 and 64.
